With the convention will he Included the . Baptist ministers' confer ence and the annual meeting of the Woman's State Missionary society. Dele gates to all the sessions are camping on the grounds. .The young people are holding their business session this afternoon. Sunday morning Dr. H. F. P. & S. railway to stop the through train from Portland Sunday morning at Columbia City and the through train from the beaches in the evening. Dr. O. C. Wright, superintendent of missions of j the Oregon State Baptist convention, and Rev. J. C. Austin have charge of the pro gram for the day. In the morning Rev. F. II. Stillwell of I Cleveland, Ohio, will preach. Or. S. j. Reid will be the -apeaker in the after noon, and In the evening the sermon will be given by Dr. W. B. Hinson of Port land. The morning service will begin at 11 o'clock and the even In g service at 8 o clock. The Oregon State Baptist convention and the Oregon Baptist Ministers' con ference will open here Monday. Delegates were entertained Wednesday by the St Helens Chamber of Commerce, which took them to St. Helens by "auto mobile and showed them the shipping and industries of the city. They inspect ed a large freighter which is loading i lumber for China. In the evening Dr. SUlwell preached and music was fur nished by members of the Swedish Bap tist church of Portland. i . Italian Mission to Be Opened Sunday Dedication services for the Italian mis sion at East Forty-fourth and Sherman streets will be conducted by xDr, Earle D. Sims of Nev York Sunday afternoon at 2:30. White Temple. i Dr. Hulten. who Is in Portland to hold a conference with the board of trustees of the church, arrived In Portland Fri day from his home in Oklahoma City Okja., where for 10 years before the war he was pastof of the First Baptist church of that city. Since the end, of the ' war he has devoted himself to general relig ious speaamg ana lecturing- tnrougnout the Middle West and Easa ! He is a man of genial approach and Is reputed to be one of the. most mag netic speakers of the Baptist denomina tion. His engagement in Portland at present calls for the four ISundays of this month. ! Dr. Hulten is a graduate of Louisville seminary and in conversation strikes his hearers as a man of liberal education, broad ideas and clear, logical deduc tions. , , j ! Christian Endeavors Plan River Excursion The Multnomah Christian! Endeavor union is planning a moonlight excur sion for the young people ot the county on Monday evening. - August 22. The barge Swan has been chartered for the occasion. .The program, aside from the usual rousing games, will! consist of some special features, the nature of which has- not yet been announced by the committee. The Endeavor excur sions have been extremely popular with .the church folk, the boat often being loaded to capacity. , Evangelical Session Continues to Aug. 11 With the Rev. F. B. Culver and the Rev. C. L. Schuster as presiding elders, the camp meeting and convention of the Oregon conference of the Evangelical as sociation will be continued until August 11. The convention opened at Jennings Lodge August I.
